Fun in Foundation Stage!

In Reception we have been looking at houses and homes. We read the story of the 3 Little Pigs and talked about the different materials they used to build their houses. We experimented with our own materials to see which could keep teddy dry!

We also went on a walk around the local area, looking at the different shapes and numbers on the houses. We spotted lots of 2D shapes and were able to name them all!

 

In Nursery we have have been talking all about Autumn and been investigating the changes in leaves. We have also been looking at the story of the Helpful Hedgehog.


We made hedgehogs in the play dough....

and we have been creating our own hedgehogs by making snips in paper with our scissors.

We have also been having lots of fun outside!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Stay and Play. It was lovely to see so many of you and the children loved having their adults in to show you all the exciting things they get up too!

PE fundraising event

The children had a brilliant time taking part in fitness circuits for Wednesday's fundraising event! The children met Eden Francis who is a shot putt and discus athlete. 

Thank you to those who have sent in their sponsorship money already. We are continuing to collect money in until next Wednesday. Keep checking the blog for an update of the total money raised! 

Mark making outdoors, using natural materials

A small group of children really enjoyed a mark making activity outside. The children were able to select different natural materials; such as, sticks and leaves. The children were able to see the effects that they created, using the different materials. This activity helps the children to develop their fine motor skills and helping them develop their imagination.

they each took in turns to add the ingredients
 They were very keen to eat them when they were cooked!!

Staying Safe!

Safe and enjoyable Hallowe`en & Bonfire Night – yes it will soon be upon us once again!

Cheshire Constabulary and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are once again  joining forces this year to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night.  The blue light services are working together to crack down on anti-social behaviour and amplify key fire safety advice to ensure that Hallowe’en and Bonfire night go off with the right sort of bang.  Hallowe’en and Bonfire night are one of the busiest times for us all  dealing with anti-social behaviour. We want to remind and encourage everyone to enjoy this time of year safely and to behave responsibly.  It is important that everybody respects their local community and residents who do not wish to be disturbed by trick or treaters. If you see a clear sign which states ‘No trick or treaters’, or no pumpkins or other decorations, please respect that person inside by not knocking on their door. Indeed, if the door is not answered at all, please accept that they do not wish to participate and move on to the next house.
We are therefore asking for your support in getting these key messages out to all schools in the run-up to and during this period, please make it clear to all students that officers will be deployed across the county to provide reassurance and do all they can to ensure that everyone has fun – without causing disruption to the community, those that chose to ignore the warnings and engage in anti-social behavior will be dealt with accordingly.

It may also be worth pointing out to your parents and guardians that some children’s Hallowe’en costumes can be extremely flammable, there have been some horrific accidents in recent years. Check the labelling in any costumes you buy, and tell your child to take care when near an open flame. Also, consider using LED lights in pumpkins instead of candles. If you do use candles, be extra careful both inside and outside the home.  Bonfires and nuisance fires can quickly spiral out of control causing devastation to the community and even risking lives. If possible, attend an organised display rather than holding bonfires and hosting firework displays at home. Professional displays are bigger, brighter and much safer for yourself and your local community. 
Through working in partnership we all play our part in keeping every one safe and happy during this festive period.

Election time

Today we held a whole school election to find out who our new team captains and vice captains were going to be. Year 6 candidates had written speeches which they delivered to an attentive audience! All the children they took part in a ballot and we talked about the importance of democracy  within our society.

Sports Day - KS1 and KS2

The whole school took part in sports day this week. A huge amount of effort was put in by the teachers and staff to make it a success! A special mention goes to year 6 as they did a wonderful job collecting all the children for the races. There was also a wonderful turn out from parents and carers. Well done to all involved!
